LEASE HORSES VS OWNING A HORSES
Buying a horse is similar to buying a used car. Used car salesman are directly proportionate to a 'horse trader'. You might be able to decide what you want. However do you have the experience to know what your buying and what would be optimal for your skill level? While buying a horse could be a 30 year commitment, leasing a horse can graduate you through a series of different levels, maintaining the optimal riding age. The 'young horse' is never for the inexperienced handler. Imagine it this way, you send your child from kindergarten through college with teachers that have highly developed skills. Sending a young horse to a trainer for thirty or sixty days when they do not even speak the language, then bring it home to an inexperienced rider and hope that animal has learned enough to support your inabilities.
Should your lease horse not work out then you are able to move on and lease another. To look for the advantages of leasing a horse in Houston or elsewhere, lets look at the many reasons why horse purchases often go wrong.

Others may have some Medical issues that might only be visible to the trained eye. consistency in any sport or discipline is the key.
Does your child really want to ride a horse, or is it likely they will get bored after a few months and move on to another interest?
In my experience, children's interest change. Horses can live to be thirty years old. Can they afford the expense of a horse in College? Can you support the "pet" that this equine may become. Board or maybe you have a large back yard. Horse need a minimum of 2 acre's to graze on. Feet need to be trimmed at 6 week intervals. Then their is worming and shots.
Is the potential owner ready to take on the responsibility of caring for a horse and committing to riding the horse on a steady basis? Most are not aware that horses need to be ridden consistently in order to remain good riding companions. Lease horses
